Adding Boarders

You’ve worked hard on your quilt.  Don’t take short-cut when it comes to adding your border to your quilt.

Measure your quilt across the center horizontally.  This measurement will equal the length for the top and  bottom border.  Cut two border sections to this length.  Pin the top and bottom border to the quilt, matching the center of both the quilt and the border. You may need to ease the fullness in a bit as you go.  Sew the borders to the top and bottom of the quilt.

Press seams towards the sashing.

Measure vertically through the center of the quilt top, including the top and bottom borders.  This measurement will be the length to cut the side borders.  Cut two border sections to this length.  Pin to the sides of the quilt, matching the centers.

Press seams towards the sashing.

Measuring and adding your borders this way will keep your quilt perfectly square!
